I'm ambivalent about the book review. On the one hand, Adorno's book
on Kierkegaard seems to unquestioningly apply Marx's critique of
religion to Kierkegaard's religious views. On the other hand, Adorno
(if I recall) said in a letter to Benjamin that he found Benjamin's
religious-slanted writing much more interesting and insightful than
his communist-slanted writing (such as Mechanical Reproduction), and
Adorno seemed to use Kierkegaard's critiques of false subjectivity in
his own analysis for quite some time. Yep, Fromm might be behind a
lot of this, but then Fromm left early. I think there's ground for
complicating the relationship between the FS thinkers and religion,
but we should be careful not to go too far.

I'd like to read the book, though.
