[FRA:] Horkheimer "idea" request

Dear List,
 
I seem to remember Habermas somewhere recounting an idea of Horkheimer's that when a tradition is held up for laudation it is a sure sign that the content of that tradition is no longer substantive...that the tradition is hollowed out.
 
Can anyone kindly direct me to either Habermas's recount or the original?
