I do not doubt that oppression could emerge from the use of particular  
categories, but I think what Adorno is getting at is the contrast  
emotion-thinking.  When emotion takes over, thought stops; the thoughtless  emotional 
reactions breed oppression.  This is a common theme is group  psychotherapy.  FrdW
