In the English translation of The Crisis of European Sciences and 
Transcendental Phenomenology, p. 17:

"In our philosophizing then--how can we avoid it?-- we are functionaries of 
mankind."

Shall I assume this is another translation of the same original passage 
also translated as "civil servants"?
