I'd be more inclined to say that opposition to certain kinds of thinking are
more structural (maybe that's what you meant). Lacan does have "healthy"
pockets of support in a variety of places... but those who don't like his
work REALLY don't like his work... very few would say, "neither hot nor cold
I spit thee from my mouth" about le psy. I've noticed that the only really
thoughtful responses to Lacan comes from Lacanians... which is good, but
somewhat disappointing. It should also be acknowledged that the reception of
his work is in its infancy stages... esp. with the staggered translations.
This usually makes for widespread misunderstandings (which is entirely
understandable) [we only ever understand what we already know].
