Over the last 12 months the Habermas List on the Spoons Collective has had to face some of the issues we are encountering at present on the FS List. Sadly, there the "bad" talk eventually drove out the "good" talk, and now this list is only just functioning. Selfishly, as a postgraduate student who simply couldn't have progressed my research project without the Spoons Habermas list as a sounding board, I regret that a similar process appears to be gathering momentum here on the FS list.

What happened at the Habermas list was that an alternative "more scholarly" venue was set up and is fairly but strongly moderated. I have come to regard the Spoons List as a more informal venue for wide ranging discussions and exchanges - almost akin to a reading group at the pub.

Previous to the Ass.Press interruption, the standard of discussion which suddenly emerged two weeks ago was exciting. So I want to suggest that an alternative venue be sought in which the boring, dishonest, class-traitorous, foot note whoring pseudo academics can theorize to their hearts content.

Any thoughts,
