I'm sorry no one replied to the post on the Benjamin list, although I, for
one, didn't actually receive it. If I had, I would have promptly agreed with
you about the interest of Benjamin's approach to the work of art and
suggested some other texts. I'll have a look in the translated
correspondence for your quote (and in Wolin for details of the citation),
but in the meantime you could try 'Strenge Kunstwissenschaft', translated as
'The Rigorous Study of Art' by T.Y. Levin, in October 47, Winter 1988 and
some of the essays in Volume 1 of the Selected Writings, Harvard UP, e.g.
The Concept of Criticism in German Romanticism.
