speaking objects

Dear all,
I am seraching for a quote by Adorno or Benjamin. I cannot remember where I
have seen it (and I have only herad of it in English), but I know one of
the two said it. It is very important for a paper I hope to publish. I hope
that someone can help me.It goes something like this:

"under the lingereing eye the very objects themselves will begin to speak
to us"
