At risk of adding to the complication -- perhaps we should consider
reading Bob Hullot-Kentor's new translation of AESTHETIC THEORY.  The
translation of ND is a bit shaky, although the book is certainly
worthwhile.  There might be a problem of AT's availablilty for some, but
the text is equally worthwhile...
