Belated thanks to Michael Salter and Dennis Redmond for their
enlightening remarks on Adorno's AGAINST EPISTEMOLOGY. I am not
competent to judge the points in question, but at least their
remarks make sense though they are way beyond my knowledge of the
subject matter. This is important becuase esoteric ideas ought to
be communicated without resorting to the kind of nonsense which
has run rampant on this list since, which I shall comment upon
later.
This book is out of print, so I shall not be able to check it for
myself unless in turns up in a used bookstore, which is a rare
occasion for Adorno books.
I was intereted in Adorno's treatment of this subject as well as
others, becuase, though not well acquainted with his work yet, the
few books and essays I have read lead me to believe he was most
perspicacious, probably the most profound of the Frankfurters (a
judgment which many people I know share), especially in smoking
out the subtrefuges of idealist philsophy. I'm looking forward to
reading his books on Kierkegaard and Heidegger, and I'm keeping my
fingers crossed that he will give these characters a real
ass-whuppin'.
So anyone know any good exposes of Dilthey?
