[CST-2] Adv Algorithms - Elliptic Integrals?!?

Hello again
One of the last things Dr Norman did in the course was describe a technique 
that produced a pair of (quadratically) converging sequences starting from 
initial values a and b (and using SQR(ab) and (a+b)/2 to calculate subsequent 
values).  He said that this could be used to be calculate things like pi and 
e (he showed code for calculating pi, I think) - using the concept of 
elliptic integrals.  Does anyone understand how to do this or know where to 
find out more?
