I remember him saying a number of times "use Microsoft Project"...:-)

However, both styles are telling you exactly the same information. All jobs
have a duration -  earliest/latest start/finish times only come into effect
when there is more than one path to the node. You then just find the
smallest/largest cumulative job duration.
