Hello all,

Firstly, pub tonight: are people going and most importantly where?

Secondly, more info and another reminder below about the upcoming
Yorkshire trip (see original email at the bottom, if you can't be
bothered to search back through your inbox).

Many thanks,
Sophie

NEW YEAR:
If those who have replied already can further confirm/clarify their
plans, that would be helpful. Everbody else, please reply now, even if
you're still a little unsure of exact dates, because it would be
reaaaaaally useful if I could at least get a rough idea of what's
happening.

I currently have 10 people signed up, a whopping 7 of whom are offering
multiple spaces in their own cars, so even with 3 spaces taken there is
still loads of opportunity to get a lift if you can't drive (so no
excuses!). The spaces have been/will be allocated
first-come-first-served. Where the driver has indicated some possible
flexibilty, speak now if you need them on a particular day and they
might kindly fit their plans around you. Also, if you work out that
you're reasonably on-route for someone then they may pick you up
halfway.

Current lifts available are:
From Cambridge on 24th or 25th.
From Rugby via Birmingham/M6 on 27th.
 From Lincoln/Sheffield on 27th or 28th.
 From Cambridge on 27th, 28th or 29th.
 From Oxford/Swindon on 28th (flexible).
To Northwest Cumbria on 27th.
To Rugby via B'ham/M6 on 30th.
To Oxford/Swindon on 31st (flexible).
To Cambridge on 1st.
To Leeds station on 1st, 3rd or 4th.

Dear Cavers,

Apologies for the length of this email. If I haven't met you yet (I'm
new this term), Hi! I'm leading the New Year's Trip to Bull Pot Farm/Red
Rose CPC on Casterton Fell in Yorkshire. There are a huge number of
caves in this area to suit a range of abilities. This promises to be a
fantastic opportunity to try new routes, develop your skills, engage in
some traditional silliness and escape your families! The trip will run
from Boxing Day to New Year's Day, a.k.a. Thursday 26th December to
Wednesday 1st January. You do not have to come for the whole week.

Rather than having standard prices based on whether or not you hire kit,
the costs for this trip are arranged on an individual level.
Accommodation is £5 per night. Transport costs will be split between
those sharing each vehicle (as an example, the internet suggests that a
return Cambridge-Casterton trip is likely to cost £97 petrol per car, or
£19 per person if 5 people can share). Gear rental fees per day are:
Light 50p, clothing £1.50, SRT £1. Communal food costs will be split and
extra money should be brought for personal food. If you've been caving
with the club before, you will now need to be an insured member in order
to come on this trip. This will be about £20-30, depending on whether
you're a student. Email David (dw444) if you need to sort this out. Each
individual should also purchase their own set of club cowstails, for a
one-off cost of £5. This paragraph should be used as a guide only. There
may be some additional costs I have not considered.

In order that everything can run smoothly, I would initially like some
information from those planning to attend. Please reply to me as soon as
possible, with the following section copy & pasted and completed. This
is not yet a solid commitment, as arriving and leaving dates for
non-drivers will likely depend on whether lifts are available. I will
ask for confirmation later, when the plan is starting to take shape.

Your mobile number:
Emergency contact no (i.e. family member/college plodge):
Intended arrival date:
Intended leaving date:
